Five minutes, and often same day. Wilmington Manor is right on our doorstep on the New Castle side of the DuPont Highway, so a morning call here is usually a car you can drive in the afternoon. Broken side or rear glass is $200 to $500 fitted with all the shattered glass vacuumed out. A chip fill is $60 to $130 and about 30 minutes. A windshield is $250 to $450. Wilmington Manor is a post-war neighbourhood and it still parks like one. The houses went up when one car per household was the assumption, so driveways are short, garages are narrow if they exist, and most families now put a second and third vehicle at the kerb on streets that were laid out for a lot fewer of them. Cars sit outside overnight, close together, on quiet residential blocks with a highway on one side and the interstate approach to the bridge on the other.
That combination gives us two very different jobs from the same few streets. Overnight, it is broken side glass: a quiet block, a car at the kerb, and tempered glass that does not crack but collapses in a second. In daylight, it is stone off Route 13 and the ramps. There is a third thing here too, and it is one of the nicer parts of working this neighbourhood: people keep cars a long time. We get plenty of ten and fifteen year old vehicles whose owners have decided the car is fine and the windshield is not, and glass for older models is usually easy to get and cheap. A screen at $250 to $450 on a car somebody plans to keep another five years is a straightforward decision. Being five minutes away, we can usually turn that around inside a day.
The DuPont Highway runs along one edge with its jughandles and service frontage, and I-295 sweeps past on the other side climbing toward the Delaware Memorial Bridge, so this small neighbourhood is bracketed by two of the busiest pieces of road in the county. Route 9 and New Castle Avenue take the local traffic toward the river and the old town. Inside the neighbourhood it is a grid of short residential streets with mature street trees, small front lawns, and parking on both sides once everyone is home. Route 141 and Basin Road are close enough to bring industrial traffic through the area, and the New Castle airport ground sits just to the south.
“10/10 will recommend. A+ service and professionalism. My car was vandalize by a man on drugs. He destroyed my windshield, broke my wiper arm and ripped off my door handle. Very unfortunate for me because my insurance didn't cover because the total damages was under the price of my deductible. So I had to come out of pocket. Glory and praises to God Almighty who supply all. I mean I was upset but God gave me the peace and a heart to pray for the individual that damaged my car. But baby, Pro Bond pulled up on time and got right to work. Vacuum up all the glass and told me once I get the wiper arm to give them a call and they will install. I am so appreciative of great business. The icing on the cake was the quoted price of repair was cheaper then 4 other companies that I called. I called Monday they came out to repair on Tuesday and that was only because it rained Monday. I will recommend to all my family and friends”
One: overnight break-ins on the residential blocks. Kerbside parking with no driveway is the common factor, and it is nearly always a door window rather than the windshield. Two: highway stone, from Route 13 and the I-295 ramps, picked up in the couple of minutes it takes to get from these streets onto a road doing sixty. Three: the trees. Mature street planting means limbs over parked cars, and a storm here reliably produces at least one back window with a branch through it plus a lot of sap and grit on the screens that never got a wash. Four: age. Original glass on long-kept cars is often pitted and scored from years of wipers, which is why a stone that would bounce off a new screen puts a star in an old one.
It is barely a drive. Come out to the DuPont Highway and head south toward New Castle; Parkway Circle is a short turn off 13 and it is about five minutes from most of the neighbourhood. If you are on the Route 9 side, run down New Castle Avenue and cut across to 13 rather than going all the way into the old town. Watch the jughandles if you are heading north on the highway, because you cannot simply turn left across it. Plenty of people here leave the car with us and get a lift home from a neighbour, which at this distance is a five-minute favour rather than a big ask.

No, and it is better that you hear it straight: we are open 8 to 5 Monday to Friday and closed at the weekend. What to do in the meantime is tape a bag or a sheet of plastic over the opening from the outside so rain does not get into the door, park it nose-in somewhere you can see it, and leave the broken glass where it is rather than sweeping it around the inside of the car. Call first thing Monday. Being five minutes away, a Monday morning call is usually a Monday job.
They are different glass on purpose. A windshield is laminated, two layers bonded to a plastic interlayer, so it cracks and stays in one piece and keeps holding the roof and the airbag. Side and rear windows are tempered, which is designed to break into thousands of small blunt pellets instead of shards, so nobody gets cut. That is why a broken door window means a vacuum-out of the seat rails, the door card and the window channel as part of the job, and why $200 to $500 covers the cleanup as well as the glass.
Usually yes, on two counts. Glass for an older, common model is generally easy to source and sits at the friendlier end of the $250 to $450 range, and the windshield on any car is a structural part, bonded in to help hold the roof shape and to back the passenger airbag, not just something to look through. A cracked screen on a car you plan to keep another five years is worth doing properly. We will tell you honestly if a repair at $60 to $130 will get you there instead.
