Because the bay is so close, mobile work here is about the car's situation rather than the distance. It makes sense when the windshield is cracked across the driver's view and the vehicle should not be moved at all. When a window went overnight, the seats are full of granules and rain is coming. When somebody is home alone with the car and cannot organise a drop-off and a collection. When the vehicle is a work van or a truck that would lose more in downtime than the glass costs. In any of those, the van comes to the drive and nothing about the job or the price is different.
The fitting is not the variable here - the conditions are. Same glass, same primer on a properly cleaned flange, same continuous bead, same new mouldings, same clean-out with the door card off, same drive-away time worked out for the day rather than recited from memory. What a roof adds is a steady temperature and shelter from the wind, and urethane cares about both of those. So on a mild, dry weekday your driveway is a perfectly good place to have a windshield fitted; in a February cold snap the five-minute run to the bay buys a better cure for exactly the same money, and we would rather tell you that than take the booking regardless. Rain moves an appointment in either direction, which is a rule rather than a preference.

The particular thing about Wilmington Manor is the garages. These houses were built with them, but they were built for the cars of the time, and a good number will not take a current crossover or pickup - so the fleet on these streets sleeps outside on the drive year-round. For us that means the van almost always has a legal, flat, private place to work, and it means we are almost never able to work under cover at your address. The streets curve and are wide enough that even a kerbside job is realistic where a drive is short. In summer that is close to ideal. In February, with the bay five minutes away, the honest advice is usually to bring a windshield in and let the van handle the jobs that genuinely cannot travel.
