Auto Glass Repair and Replacement for Wilmington Drivers

Fifteen minutes down Route 13 or I-495, and the van works city blocks all week. The Wilmington job we get most is a broken side or rear window on a street-parked car: $200 to $500 fitted, with every pellet vacuumed out of the seat rails and door card. A chip fill is $60 to $130 and about 30 minutes, a windshield $250 to $450 fitted. The shop is at 23 Parkway Circle in New Castle and we are open weekdays 8 to 5. Call 215-608-1108.

Auto glass for Wilmington drivers

Wilmington parks the way older cities park: at the kerb, tight, on streets where the houses come right up to the pavement and off-street parking is something other neighbourhoods have. Whether it is the rowhouse blocks off Union Street, the streets around Trolley Square or the residential grid east of the park, the car spends every night outdoors in a space the driver was pleased to find, and moving it is an event rather than a convenience. That fact drives nearly everything we do up there.

Because of it, most Wilmington customers do not want to drive to a shop at all; they want the space they have to still be theirs afterwards. So the van does the work where the car is standing. Tell us the block, which side of the street and what we are looking for, and we come to it. Prices are the same as they are at the bench: $200 to $500 for a broken side or rear window, $250 to $450 for a windshield, $60 to $130 for a chip. If the car is drivable and you would rather have it done indoors, the shop is fifteen minutes south and there is proper parking when you get here, which is its own argument. Either way the number is agreed before we start, and we are open weekdays 8 to 5 only, so a weekend break-in is a Monday morning call.

Market Street runs up the middle of the city and Delaware Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue carry the traffic out to the west side, with Union Street and the streets around Trolley Square packed with kerbside parking on both sides. The residential grids north and west of the centre are narrow one-way blocks where a delivery van stopping for two minutes holds up everything behind it. I-95 cuts straight through the city with the ramps feeding directly into those streets, and I-495 runs down the river side past the port. Down at the Riverfront the parking is open lots rather than kerbs, which is a different environment again and one the van finds much easier to work in.

“10/10 will recommend. A+ service and professionalism. My car was vandalize by a man on drugs. He destroyed my windshield, broke my wiper arm and ripped off my door handle. Very unfortunate for me because my insurance didn't cover because the total damages was under the price of my deductible. So I had to come out of pocket. Glory and praises to God Almighty who supply all. I mean I was upset but God gave me the peace and a heart to pray for the individual that damaged my car. But baby, Pro Bond pulled up on time and got right to work. Vacuum up all the glass and told me once I get the wiper arm to give them a call and they will install. I am so appreciative of great business. The icing on the cake was the quoted price of repair was cheaper then 4 other companies that I called. I called Monday they came out to repair on Tuesday and that was only because it rained Monday. I will recommend to all my family and friends”

Local Conditions

What cracks glass around Wilmington

One: overnight break-ins on the residential blocks, and it is not close. A car at the kerb on a quiet street is the standard target and rear door glass on the pavement side is the standard opening. Two: the interstate through the middle of town. I-95 in the city means constant lane changes, roadworks and freight in the same few hundred yards, and that is where city cars pick up their chips. Three: the old surface. The pre-war streets are patched, ridged and in places still show the trolley era underneath, and every joint works on a chipped screen. Four: the squeeze. Passing a double-parked car on a street this narrow is how mirrors get clipped and how quarter glass finds something coming the other way.

Getting Started

Reaching us from Wilmington

Route 13 south is the simplest run, straight down the DuPont Highway with no interchanges to think about, and Parkway Circle is a short turn off it. I-495 south to the I-295 and Route 9 exits is faster when the city is busy and drops you almost at the door. From the west side, Route 141 south past Newport is the sensible line rather than fighting through the centre. Fifteen minutes on a decent run. If the window is out, do not take it down the interstate with loose glass in the doors; tell us the block and where the car is sitting and we will bring the van up instead.

FAQ

Auto glass in Wilmington — questions, answered

Can the van actually work on a city street with permit parking?

Usually, but it is easier if you help us. We need to get alongside the car with room to open a door fully and stand at the glass, which on a tight block means either a space behind you or somebody willing to hold one for twenty minutes. Tell us the block, the side of the street and the car when you book, and we will tell you honestly whether it looks workable. If it does not, the shop is fifteen minutes south and that is often less hassle than trying to make a space appear.

Route 13 or the interstate to get down to you?

Route 13 is the no-thinking option: get on the DuPont Highway heading south and stay on it until Parkway Circle. I-495 south is faster outside rush hour and joins I-295 near the bridge approach, which puts you a couple of minutes away. Avoid I-95 southbound at five unless you enjoy it. Either way it is about fifteen minutes and there is somewhere to park when you arrive, which is not nothing if you are coming from a block where you circled twice to get out.

Will my window still go up and down after the glass is replaced?

That is exactly what we check before handing the keys back. When a door window shatters, the pellets fall down inside the door onto the regulator and into the run channels, so the new glass has to go into a channel that is genuinely clean or it will bind, squeak or drop. We vacuum the door out, check the regulator moves properly through its whole travel, and test the switch with you there. It is included in the $200 to $500, not an extra line at the end.
