Broken Car Windows and Windshield Work in Christiana

Twelve minutes from the shop, and the van is in Christiana most days. The call we take most often from here is a window broken in a parking lot: $200 to $500 fitted, generally same day, with every fragment vacuumed out of the seat rails and door card before you get the keys back. A chip fill is $60 to $130 and half an hour, a windshield $250 to $450. We work out of 23 Parkway Circle in New Castle, weekdays 8 to 5. Call 215-608-1108.

Auto glass for Christiana drivers

Christiana is where a whole county parks. Between the mall, the hospital, the office parks along Churchmans Road and the hotels around the interstate exits, there are more cars standing still here on a given afternoon than in any residential area we cover, and most of them belong to people who are not from Christiana at all. That changes the work. Very little of what we do here starts with somebody who lives around the corner; it starts with somebody who came out of a shift or out of a store and found glass on the tarmac.

The second thing about this place is I-95. Two exits serve the area and the traffic that fills the local roads between them is interstate traffic in and out. So Christiana produces the two ends of the trade at once: broken side and rear glass out of the lots, and stone chips picked up on the interstate by people who were only passing. We handle both the same way. You get a number on the phone against your year, make and model, we come to the lot the car is sitting in, and nothing gets added while the work is happening. If the car is drivable and you would rather bring it in, the shop is twelve minutes east and common windshields sit on the shelf there, which is what makes a same-day turnaround realistic rather than a promise.

Route 7 runs north to south through the middle, carrying the mall traffic and feeding both I-95 interchanges. Route 273 crosses it and continues east toward New Castle and west to Ogletown, and it is the road most locals use rather than the interstate. Churchmans Road links the hospital campus and the office parks across to Route 7, and the whole area between them is surface parking: mall lots, hospital decks and long-stay lots for people who work here. I-95 itself cuts through with the ramps stacking up at peak. There is very little kerbside parking anywhere in Christiana, which is unusual for us, and it means almost every job we do here is done in a lot rather than on a street.

“10/10 will recommend. A+ service and professionalism. My car was vandalize by a man on drugs. He destroyed my windshield, broke my wiper arm and ripped off my door handle. Very unfortunate for me because my insurance didn't cover because the total damages was under the price of my deductible. So I had to come out of pocket. Glory and praises to God Almighty who supply all. I mean I was upset but God gave me the peace and a heart to pray for the individual that damaged my car. But baby, Pro Bond pulled up on time and got right to work. Vacuum up all the glass and told me once I get the wiper arm to give them a call and they will install. I am so appreciative of great business. The icing on the cake was the quoted price of repair was cheaper then 4 other companies that I called. I called Monday they came out to repair on Tuesday and that was only because it rained Monday. I will recommend to all my family and friends”

Local Conditions

What cracks glass around Christiana

One: smash-and-grab in the parking lots. It is a lot problem rather than a street problem here, it happens in daylight as often as after dark, and rear door glass on the far side of the car is the usual target. Two: interstate stone. I-95 carries freight through the middle of Christiana and the merge lanes are where drivers sit closest to trucks. Three: standing time. Cars parked all day on open tarmac go through the full temperature swing with no shade at all, and that cycling is exactly what turns a stable chip into a running crack. Four: the crush in a full lot, where mirrors clip mirrors, doors catch doors and quarter glass finds a corner it was not expecting.

Getting Started

Reaching us from Christiana

Route 273 east is the simple one. From the mall or the hospital, get onto 273 and stay on it through the Route 7 junction and out past the airport ground until it meets the DuPont Highway in New Castle; Parkway Circle is a short turn off 13. From the Churchmans Road side you can take I-95 north to Route 141 and come south, which is faster off-peak and much slower at five. Twelve minutes on a good run, twenty at rush hour. If the window is out, do not drive it up the interstate with loose glass in the door; tell us the lot, the level and the row, and we will come to the car.

FAQ

Auto glass in Christiana — questions, answered

Somebody went through my car in the mall lot. How long to sort it?

Usually the same day if you call early. A single side or rear window is $200 to $500 fitted depending on the vehicle and the opening. The glass itself goes in fairly quickly; what takes the time is the cleanup, and it matters. Tempered glass breaks into thousands of pellets that get into the seat rails, down inside the door card and into the heater vents, and if they stay there they rattle for months and chew the new glass in the channel. That is part of the job here, not an add-on you get asked about afterwards.

Can you do it while I am on shift at the hospital?

Yes, and a car that is going to stand for eight hours is the easiest job we get. We need the level and the row, a description of the car, and the keys. A chip fill is about 30 minutes and a windshield is roughly an hour of work plus the safe drive-away time we quote you, so a full shift is more than enough. We are out with the van weekdays between 8 and 5, so a day shift works better than a night one and we would rather book it than have you guess.

It is raining on the day we booked. What happens?

We move it, either into the shop or to another day, and we would rather tell you that than fit glass in the wet. Urethane needs a dry, clean bonding surface to reach full strength, and the windshield is a structural part of the car, holding the roof shape in a rollover and backing the passenger airbag. A screen bonded in the rain looks identical and is not the same thing. The shop in New Castle is twelve minutes away and undercover, so wet weather usually means a change of place rather than a change of week.
