Red Lion is a crossroads rather than a neighbourhood, and its glass damage reads like one. The Route 13 corridor here carries heavy trucks all day, and every rig that turns off onto Red Lion Road drags stone and grit off the shoulder and onto the pavement behind it. The two-lane roads out east toward the creek and the marsh drop straight off the asphalt onto gravel, so anything that has to give way puts a wheel on the loose edge and throws it back into the lane. Then there is the farm and site traffic - trailers, loaders and pickups that were last washed some time ago - which tracks stone onto the road from field entrances and yards. Nothing here is exotic. It is just a lot of loose material and a lot of speed on top of it.
The replacement is done to a fixed sequence. The old pane is cut free, the pinchweld is trimmed to a clean bed and primed rather than bonded over bare metal, the urethane goes down as a single continuous bead, and the mouldings are new. Work trucks and pickups get one extra check: we confirm the pane against the actual vehicle rather than the model badge, because trims vary more on trucks than on cars - heated wiper park, acoustic glass, a camera bracket, a shade band - and the wrong box unwrapped at your gate is an hour of everybody's day gone. Red Lion is one of the better places we work for doing a windshield outside a bay. The properties here have real driveways, often long ones and often gravel or hardstanding rather than a tight apron, so the van parks well off Route 13 with room to open both front doors fully and get up both A-pillars. No permits, no meters, nobody waiting to get past. The one local variable is dust: a dry gravel drive with a truck coming in and out is not where you want a fresh urethane bead, so we will pick the far end of the drive, or a paved patch if there is one, and we would rather you told us in advance what the surface is. If a working yard is likely to be busy that morning, the ten-minute run up Route 13 to a covered bay is the cleaner option.
