A broken side window is a bigger job inside the door than it looks from outside. The card has to come off, the cavity has to be vacuumed out properly, the felt run channels have to be cleared, and the regulator gets checked before the new pane goes in, because a window that was part way up when it went often took the hit through the lift arms as well. Skip that and the new glass grinds every time it moves, and the rattle never goes away.
Back glass is a different animal. It usually carries a printed defroster grid and often the radio antenna too, so the correct part matters more than one that merely looks the same, and the cubes travel further, into the boot well, the spare-wheel recess and under the rear seat.
